THE LAST LAP – SOUTH AFRICA 2009

GENERAL INFO

1. The final part of our Golden Jubilee Series will be in South Africa – Jan/Feb 09.
2. The races will be part of a package run by David Piper and Mike Knight with the single seater element (including Juniors) being coordinated by Alan Baillie. Everyone who has raced there in previous years, have been highly impressed and almost all will return.
3. The Formula Juniors will have their own dedicated races. There will be a strong Australian contingent with others from USA, New Zealand and a few local cars.

THE RACES

4. There will be 3 race meetings on consecutive weekends.

• Zwartkop (Johanesburg) 29 – 31 Jan 09
• Killarney (Capetown) 5 – 7 Feb 09
• East London 12 – 14 Feb 09

5. At each meeting the Juniors will have – at least

• 2 free practice
• 1 qualifing practice
• 2 races

6. The action will start each Thursday with the main race days on Saturday and Sunday

THE COSTS

7. The cost is £2500 per car. This covers shipping, documentation, movement around the country and all loading/unloading – ie you arrive and drive.

8. If numbers exceed the capacity of the pre arranged freight arrangement, there may be a surcharge – amount not certain but likely to be £150 - £200 per car

9. This does not cover your personal travel, hotels, car hire etc.

10. A non refundable deposit is payable by 5 September 08.

11. The balance will be due on the loading date (Mid December 08)

DATES

12. Race dates are as shown in para 4.

13. Loading date will be Mid December and the cars will arrive back in UK Mid March 09.

14. There is plenty interest and we shall allocate space on a “first come” basis – the cut off dates for entries is 5 September 08.

ADMIN

15. Those who have raced in RSA before recommend flying UK – Johannesburg , returning Capetown – UK.

16. Most people include a safari tour, this is best done before or after the race programme – there wont be sufficient time between races ie recommend fly ex UK on Tuesday 27 Jan.

17. Hotels – Robin Longdon [lolamk2@ntlworld.com] is the Guru – he has made some block bookings and can give an indication of cost and availability.

18. Hire cars – Allan Baillie has good contacts for inexpensive car hire.
