1959 Elva Formula Junior |
- This Elva Jr was the subject of a full bare frame restoration in 1992 / 1994, and has had little use since.
- The frame has been straightened and repaired with new mild steel tubing. Most of the suspension pieces and brackets were made new. The body has been stripped and repainted and all interior aluminum panels replaced. All the mechanicals have been rebuilt.
- It has a race spec 998cc BMC motor, twin 1 1/2” SU’s; Ribcase 4sp; drop gear housing on the Morris / Sprite differential, fuel cell, fire system plumbed(no bottle), 5 point belts, roll bar and adjustable seat for different drivers.
- The old story "too many cars, to little time" applies here as the car was run in 3 events only, in 1995. It has been in heated, dry storage since then with it’s fuel and antifreeze drained.
- It will need a new battery, carbs cleaned/rebuilt, oil changed, fuel and coolant added to run.
- Prezzo in Euro: 45.000,00. Contact; http://www.danieleturrisi.com/

Lotus 20-J-899
* PRICE REDUCED TO
$55,000 CDN *

|
- Lotus 20-J-899 sold directly to Dick Boyle, California, US in the summer of 1961 (7/09/61) . . it ran in the Las Vegas FJ road race in October (it's most significant event of 1961) then the following year in a number of races including the Los Angeles Times Grand Prix.
- I found the car in the seventies with all it's original bits other than it's transaxle . . a few years later I uncovered a Hewland Mk 1 that proved to be one of the first three Hewlands built for Lola's Mk 3 Formula Jr . . the Lola was a local car that raced at Vancouver's Westwood circuit in the early Sixties . . it was eventually sold back to the UK in 1984 without the Hewland ..
- I restored the car (a complete frame-up) over the years using all it's original parts . . the Cosworth 105e ( 1100 cc. ) has its original crank (10 thou. under) . . . original camshaft and three ring pistons . . the head has new valves, seats and guides . . the Hewland has new bearings ( Taylor Race Engineering, Plano, Texas ) and clutch shaft and was thoroughly refreshed by Vintage Racing Motors, Redmond, Washington.
- All the electrics and brakes have been attended to.
- The car is now as it was raced in the sixties.
- It's not been raced since I've owned it .
- The Cosworth was run in very recently (sounds marvellous) but otherwise zero hours.
- The pictures were taken following the run in .
- The full-on picture was taken some ten years ago . . the car's been in my shop ever since.
- The roll bar support is not shown . . it attaches to the rear of the head (#7)
- I'm in Vancouver ( Mission ) B.C. Canada. I'm asking $ 79,000 cdn.

1963 Huffaker-Ford |
- Californian, Joe Huffaker, built a series of successful front and rear engine Formula Juniors from 1959 through 1963. Most were powered by BMC engines, but this one was not.
- When Huffaker built his last Formula Juniors for 1963, the Mk.VI models, two were sent to Marvin Webster (of Webster Gears fame). Webster installed the then state-of-the-art Ford engine, instead of the BMC engine, in the four wheel disc brake car.
- It easily lead its very first FJ race in 1963 until it developed throttle linkage problems. This first Ford-engine Mk.VI race is documented by a period magazine article that comes with the car.
- Decades later the car was found in Oklahoma, remarkably complete, including the Ford 105 E engine, but with a number of later period modifications to stay competitive.
- The car was returned to Joe Huffaker for a complete, documented, restoration.
- The new Huffaker prepared engine produces 125 h.p. and is mated to a Hewland 4 speed gearbox.
- Since restoration the car has raced at the 50th anniversary Golden Jubilee event at the Monterey Historics and one other event.
- The car was last run at a test day at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, in June of this year running laps times that would have put it on the pole for the F.J. race earlier in the season, and within a second of the lap record holding 1963 Lola Mk.5A. This was on old tires and with a misfire that has since been corrected.
- With new tires, and some further sorting out time, this should be one of the quickest Juniors on any International F.J. grid.
- Because of its rarity, it is also a good candidate for the most prestigious Formula Junior races in the world.
- It has already been invited to Goodwood, for example.
- There is also complete parts and technical support still available from Huffaker Racing.
- The car is offered for $69,500 U.S.D., substantially below the values of other Formula Juniors with comparable performance.

1948 Bardon Turner

|
- The Bardon-Turner is historically interesting for its connections with two of British Motorsport/Sportcar postwar personalties:- Don Truman (original owner/driver) and Jack Turner who both have sadly died during 2011
- The original BARDON special (named after BARbara Longmore and DON Truman later Mr.& Mrs. Truman) was based on an unstable MARWYN chassis kit.
- Over the winter of 1948/49 the car obtained a new body and appeared much better prepared during the 1949 season winning Don the Half Litre Club’s Good Loser Trophy!
- It is quite likely that much of this work was undertaken by Jack Turner. However what is certain is that, over the winter of 1949/50 Jack rebuilt the car casting a set special of alloy wheels which it still has today, similar designed wheels can be seen on the early Turner Sports cars and the F2 single seater built for John Webb.
- The final (less successful) evolution of the car was for 1951 when it had new low slung body (Cooper style) with pannier fuel tanks and a works JAP “Sloper” engine, this new engine should have been much more suited for circuit racing than the old Speedway JAPs but it proved otherwise and the car failed to finish any race during 1951, Don later received 2 new Speedway JAP engines from the factory by way of compensation!
- After 1951 the car disappeared from view, its “new” body may have been fitted to another 500 but the Bardon Turner only emerged again in 1980s as a box of bits and then rebuilt into its 1950 form . It still has the original battered 1950 nose, Turner wheels, suspension and chassis and it is thought that the bulkhead dates back to its original 1948 MARWYN days.
- It has been owned since 1994 by Mike Anthony, the car was invited to the Goodwood Revival in 1998 and 1999 (it is an original Goodwood car) but has only rarely competed since then, Mike has reluctantly decided to sell the car, so it can again join the ranks again of the very early 500s which it is probably one of most extensively raced and developed 500s between 1948 and 1951.
- Price: £17,500 / Contact Mike Anthony by email.
