FORMULA JUNIOR AND HISTORIC MOTOR RACING
 OFFICIAL FJHRA WEBSITE

Following the posting of the information below relating to the BTR2 Wayne Mitchell from California sent me this message and picture

Hi:
I have just returned from Louisiana from collecting the car that was on the website.  It is indeed a BT2.  Some details are in question as to the originality of some of the parts.   You can remove it from the site if you desire. It will be restored by me real soon.  I have been in contact with Peter Denty and Duncan R. re this car and wish to identify it's s/n.  probably by a process of elimination of existing and written off cars.
Thanks for all the effort on the site, wish I was back living in UK instead of Calif  because of the racing enthusiasts.  Cheers, be in touch again, Wayne Mitchell  BT2,BT9, (5) BT21 BT28 BT29 all unrestored baskets or piles.  wtmitchell@att.net

Below is copy of the original information received from David Roland based in Alexandria Louiasiana U.S.A

best history I can find on car-----w.e. anspach in florida bought this car from possibly a doc whiley in about 1970(I had phone call with w.e. on this subject and he thinks that is correct)in a letter from w.e.(april 29 1993)he states that he sold/traded car to bud bakels also of floridia 1972.at that time he states the car still had the inboard brakes.also states that he won the florida reginal championship in 1970 and the southeast championship in 1971.w.e. also sent pictures of the car to me that match the car.(paint ect)
phone conversation with bud bakels----engine builder was
bill sturtsman--bud wrecked car (at sebring?)right rear damage.sold car to?
in about 1985 I heard rumors of a brabham in beaumont texas and the car was reported to have a blue with yellow paint scheme--as this was the colors of my dads bt29 that was sold to someone in texas i thought it might be his car and went to see.what I found was this car and a alexis fc/fb car in a barn that was falling down around them--thankfully not on them.conversation with the man(have to dig through notes to find name) who had them led me to believe that he never raced them although he claimed other wise--(he also seemed to be a bull shitter on other unrelated subjects)he didnt know enough about the subject and the crash damage on the bt2 was never properly repaired--right rear broken wheel studs with only 1/4 turn of threads on nuts ect.also it was obvious that some one was converting to outboard brakes and never finished the job.he also told me he sent engine/trans of both cars to engine builder in houston(?)
and that engine man died next week and wife sold them as scrap.
I bought both cars and have had in shop since 1985.i restored alexis(x-team opert 1968 fb& x-anitoly artunov fc) into fantastic little car---it was in worse shape than brabham!!!
is the car a fake or clone?considering above i doubt it.why would anyone bother as it had become an out dated design early in life and was worthless until recently.i have owned car for almost 20 years.
chassis tag/frame numbers.this is where the ---nothing where bt6 numbers are.nothing where later cars have them.no a.m. number.I understand that cars(bt2)were not built by arch motors.my reshearch into the car in old magazines with detailed photos shows no chassis tag.
sports car graphic may 1962 track test no.15 by john blunsden--this car matches exactly what I have in all details except the inboard/outboard brake situation covered in above.the dimpled dash board bulk head in the article is what this car has --look at pics I sent--this was only on bt2 1962.
drawing of 1963 bt6 fjr car(cut away by theo page)shows this bulk head diaphram no longer in use.1963 car also has wedge shaped oil tank and the upper front bay bracing is different from bt2
the oil tank-gearbox and brakes are currently with what is belived to be bt6-fj-3 belonging to frank cunningham--last i spoke to him he was going to modify his frame so bt2 oil tank would fit--even though i offered to trade the bt6 tank i have that wont fit my car--go figure.frank is a good man and did atleast send me drawings of oil tank so i could fab one.
i have letters ect to this effect.this may help someone fill in history from 1973 to 1985 as these 2 cars obviously crossed paths.all documents will go with car.
OK-enough of this bull as i can write 10 pages of this stuff on the rest of what i have---any one truly interested in seeing the rest probably should come look for their self.
